This model of Gasschutzmaske (Gas Protection Mask) was introduced in 1917, and was known as the Ledermaske due to its leather body construction. The leather of the mask is still soft, and still has markings on the underside of the edge gasket at the top, however the gasket is quite dark, so we cannot make out the markings. The mask
