Asarum splendens, Chinese Ginger pollinator-friendly Mature size: 10–15 ft TThis rather recent and native Chinese arrival is a woodland groundcover ginger with large, dark green, evergreen, and deer resistant leaves. Asarum splendens is a vigorously rhizomatous species and makes a dense carpet of green and silver mottled hearts. In early spring the large, 2 inch, deeply cupped flowers of dark purple brown are a unique and exclamation eliciting bloom when discovered beneath the foliage. (Not culinary; called ginger for its
