After Taiwan joined the World Trade Organization (WTO) in 2002, thus ending the state's spirits monopoly, TT Lee, owner and founder of the King Car Group, fulfilled a dream by building a whiskey distillery. Construction began in April 2006, and production of Kavalan Single Malt Whisky began nine months later. Kavalan Solist Sherry matured for an
