Ellen Brown McCready, Flower Bouquet and Jug for lawns Ideal for those who aren'tEllen McCready (1883 1972), known as Nellie, was born in Scotland but spent most of her adult life in Northern Ireland. Born Ellen Brown Workman, she was the daughter of a shipping magnate and later the wife of a prominent opthalmic surgeon She studied at the Glasgow School of Art, and her first exhibited work was with the Society of Women Artists (1901) and at the Royal Academy in 1903. She studied in Paris at the studio of James McNeill Whistler,
