Known for its elegant design and upscale atmosphere, it quickly became a favorite for high rollers and Hollywood elite. The resorts famous golf course, added in 1952, hosted the PGA Tours Tournament of Champions for over a decade. Howard Hughes famously purchased the Desert Inn in 1967 after management asked him to leave his penthouse.
